- Andean Software
- What do you market and sell?
- We mainly market and sell super soft alpaca, baby alpaca/silk clothing, Italian après ski boots, collector’s textiles, ethnic art and jewelry.
- How would you describe your “typical” client?
- Tactile, visually oriented people who enjoy beauty and fine design.
- Why did you choose this career path or create your business or fashion line?
- I fell in love with Peru in 1979, and with my background as a fiber artist, I soon began chasing fine textiles around the world.
- Who has influenced your fashion acumen the most?
- The fine indigenous artisans of Peru, Bali, Turkey, India, Tibet, Nepal, Bolivia and other places with long textile traditions. The level of their technical and artistic abilities is astonishing.
- If there is one thing about your product line, designs, store that you hope to convey it would be?
- That our clients feel beautiful when they wear our creations, that they glow from the inside and move with the fabrics, that they experience wearing art, being art.
- What is the one fashion item/design you wish would go away and what would you hope stays “in style” indefinitely?
- I wish baggy legged pants would go away and anything that enhances women shapeliness stays. Clothes should flatter the figure and move with gracefulness.
- The most fun I have working is when…
- We find exactly the right sweater, cape, coat, the exactly right thing for our client, and they go on and on about how much they enjoy it and how many compliments they get a year later when I run into them. The most fun I have is working with the artisans and the international travel to remote places to find new creations. It is a joy to represent fine artisans.
