— Santa Fe & Taos

August 17, 2014

This weekend is a busy one in Santa Fe, New Mexico as the frenzied art market season continues. Several galleries have shows every week and even more exhibits planned for next weekend's Indian Market. We went out Friday and Saturday to take in several art openings and wanted to share our photos and videos.

Alexandra Stevens Gallery of Fine Art

Near the top of Canyon Road you can find Alexandra Stevens Gallery of Fine Art, which has been delighting art collectors for 35 years. Friday evening was the opening of "Shadows of Passion" featuring beautiful pastels by Victoria Taylor-Gore. Victoria used to live in Santa Fe many years ago but now lives and teaches in Amarillo, Texas. She was in town for the opening and spoke with many visitors and passionate collectors. "Shadows of Passion" will be featured till August 31.

gf contemporary

gf contemporary always puts on a great show for its openings, with lively crowds and an incredibly happy and energetic staff welcoming guests. Their events are a "must see", so we walked down Canyon Road to visit their fantastic gallery. Gigi Mills was on hand for her show "this life" to discuss her lovely oil works, and they will be on display through August 31.

Patina Gallery

Friday evening was the offical show for "100 Rings" by Atelier Zobel with Artist Peter Schmid greeting guests and visitors. Allison and Ivan Barnett, the Owners of Patina Gallery, were very generous in allowing the Essential Guide a sneak preview of the show the day before, which you can read about here. We stopped in again to see the excited crowd admiring the gorgeous jewelry and adding to their collections. "100 Rings" will be exhibited through the end of the month.

Nedra Matteucci Galleries

Saturday afternoon was the opening of "Through Our Eyes", a two-person show of husband and wife artists John Moyers and Terri Kelly Moyers at Nedra Matteucci Galleries. There were lots of people admiring the amazing paintings, and John and Terri chatted with many of their long time collectors. This show runs through September 6 and we highly recommend it!
