So many times throughout the years we are reminded that change is one of the few certainties in life. Our communities, businesses, friends and clients have seen much change in these past few years. The economy has challenged many of us to renew, refresh and reinvent our lives, personally and professionally. Some of you are still transforming, perhaps downsizing or growing. Know that The EG family is right there along with you. The Essential Guide—the Little Black Book of luxury travel that has been capturing the charm and character of Northern NM, Santa Fe and Taos for over 25 years—has expanded to some of the country’s most popular destinations.
EGs are now in Charleston, Savannah, and the Lowcountry as well as Coeur D’Alene, Walla Walla and Spokane, all wonderful and very different markets. We plan to increase our respected brand even more in the near future to other highly viable markets as The Essential Guide is synonymous with the best of regional art, design, fashion, food and travel. And lets be honest, this growth lets us see some of the most wonderful cities and towns allowing us like you, to find that special place to dine, that place in nature that takes your breath away and who doesn’t like to shop, ok its, true that Chip sat patiently waiting for me to try clothes on for over 3 hours once at one of my favorite boutiques when were traveling—something his male friends still tease him about. But I can tell you I’ve waited for him almost as long, just not as frequently!
And when we travel to friends and family they know that something will probably be rearranged in their homes, as I can’t help myself from bringing that “hidden decorator” out as I have most my life. I tell our talented professional decorators that grace our pages that I live vicariously through them and we know a few of you do too! Entertaining is another of my passions and the talented chef’s, mixologist, caterers and sommeliers have taught me much over the years through these pages and when we hear from you, telling us how you loved this or that recipe, we know you feel the same.
So that you have much of the material prior to your visits we have enhanced our social media, created monthly blogs, reintroduced Essential Spotlights that share something special about one’s town, built interactive websites and downloads to coordinate with design and materials found in our award winning lifestyle publications’ focus on the arts, home design & décor, high-end shopping, dining and recreational activities. The mix and variety of advertisers and editorial are built to communicate the rich heritage, culture and traditions of the region in which it is published to the acclaim of locals and visitors alike. And through our non-profit highlights we may even find you your next volunteering option or at the very least encourage you to give to those who need our help. To date The Essential Guides have given more than $100,000 to charities in markets where our books are published.
